Li Chen is a character developed as part of a marketing campaign by 'Brand & Deliver' for the 'Lenovo: Legion' range, with an AR experience developed by us at 'Apache'. In booths set up at Liverpool Street Station in London, players would be able to control the character using augmented reality full body tracking, and pose for a photo op.
For this character, myself and Lorchan Trapp were provided the high poly assets used from the video advertisements and tasked with retopologising them for real-time use in Unity. We both worked on the modelling and texturing, with me then taking over the rigging, skinning, shaders and animation, including the setup of cloth physics and dynamic blend shaping.
The Orc character went through the same pipeline, and was worked on by Tim Mehmet and Becky Scott.
